History
Named in 1890 by Lieutenant Commander H. B. Mansfield, U.S. Navy (USN), for Ensign Homeer Clark Poundstone, a member of his party. The name was published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1891 Coast Pilot (p. 151).
