Description
Kamennoi Island is located near mouth of Redoubt Bay, 8 mi. SW of Sitka, off W coast of Baranof I., Alex. Arch.
History
Named in 1809 by the Russian navigator, Ivan Vasiliev the first; published by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19) Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "O(strov) Kamennoy," meaning "rocky island."
