History

named "Ozero Glubokoye," meaning "deep lake," in 1809 by the Russian navigator, Ivan Vasilev the first; by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN); called "Ozero Redutskoye," meaning "redoubt lake," possibly after a fishing station at the lake's outlet called "the Redoubt" in 1849 by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 38), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
