Camel Mountain is located on W coast of Baranof I., 13 mi. S of Sitka, Alex. Arch.
History
In 1848, on Russian Hydrographic Dept. chart 1397 the name was published "G(ora) Klyuchevaya," meaning "water spring mountain." It was named "Camel Mountain" in 1926 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), "because of double hump," to distinguish it from Mount Kliuchef, 2 miles to the southeast.
