Ring Island is located in Jamestown Bay, 2 mi. SE of Sitka, on W coast of Baranof I., Alex. Arch.
History
Named by U.S. Navy in 1880 for Paymaster James Andrew Ring, U.S. Navy (USN). The name was published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 144).
