Description
Dove Island is located in Jamestown Bay, 2 mi. SE of Sitka, on W coast of Baranof I., Alex. Arch.
History
Named by U.S. Navy (USN) in 1880 for "Mr. Dove," who was employed on the U.S.S. Jamestown that year. The name was published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 144).
