Description
Located in Hot Springs Bay, 0.8 km (0.5 mi) NW of Goddard, on W side of Baranof Island, Alexander Archipelago.
History
Named in 1809 by the Russian navigator, Ivan Vasiliev the first; published by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "O(strov) Kolosh" or "Kolosh Island." In 1925 it was called "Doctor Island" by US&C&GS. "Kolosh" was the Russian name for the Tlingit Indians.
