Description

Lisianski Point is located on S tip of Kisianski Peninsula, 6.5 mi. N of Sitka, on NW coast og Baranof I., Alex. Arch.

History

Named in 1883 by W. H. Dall, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) for Captain Urey Theodorovich Lisianski, Russian explorer, who visited Sitka in 1804 after the Indians had destroyed the settlement. He bombarded and destroyed the Indian village on Indian River in retaliation.
