Sherman Rock is located off E shore of Lynn Canal, 0.6 mi. SW of Point Sherman and 46 mi. NW of Juneau, Coast Mts.

Named in 1890 by Lieutenant Commander H. B. Mansfield, U.S. Navy (USN), for Sherman Point and published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1891 Coast Pilot (p. 200).
