John Glacier is located in Glacier Bay National Monument, trends E to its 1961 terminus, 1 mi. NW of 1961 terminus of Johns Hopkins Glacier, 80 mi. NW of Hoonah, St. Elias Mts.
History
Named in 1936 by Field and Cooper (1937, p. 62) for "Stickeen John," one of the Tlingit Indians who accompanied John Muir on his visit in 1879 (Muir, 1915, p. 115).
