Trends NW-SE from Chitistone River to University Peak, bounded on the E by University Peak, on the SW by Glacier Creek and the unnamed glacier at the head of he stream, on the NW by the Chitistone River, and on the NE by Chitistone Glacier and the head of Russell Glacier, 38 mi E of McCarthy, St. Elias Mts.

Named in 1965 by Terris Moore, former President of the University of Alaska, for the University of Alaska.
