Description
Located within the Painted Hills, 2.6 km (1.6 mi) south of the mouth of Bear Creek, 366 m (1200 ft) from the head of Painted Cove Trail; located in John Day Fossil Beds National Monument/Painted Hills Unit.
History
Named because of the brown lateritic paleosols of the Eocene geologic age.
