Woronkofski Island is located between Stikine and Zimovia Straits, 5 mi. SW of Wrangell, Alex. Arch.
History
Published in 1848 on Russian Hydrographic Dept. chrt 1396 as "O(strov) Voronkovskiy." Named for Lieutenant Woronkovski, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), who explored the southern shore of the Alaska Peninsula in 1836.
