Description
Basalt Lake is located near W end of Amphitheater Mts., 28 mi. NW of Paxson, Alaska Range of Hoonah, Alex. Arch. 0.7 mile long.
History
So named in 1955 by T. L. Pewe U.S. Geological Survey (USGS),BECAUSE the lake "is flanked by towering basalt cliffs."
