Description
Mills Island is located in Krestof Sound, 12 mi. NW of Sitka, Alex. Arch.
History
This feature was named "Mills Islet" in 1897 by Commander E. K. Moore, U.S. Navy (USN), for a prominent Sitka merchant. It was originally called "Ostrov Krugloy," meaning "round island," in 1809 by the Russian navigator Ivan Vasiliev the first.
