Description

On the W coast of Sukkwan Island, between Corlies Islands and McFarland Islands in Tlevak Strait, 12.6 km (7.8 mi) SW of Hydaburg, Alex. Arch. 300 feet long.

History

Historical name, "Gui Kangulas," is a Haida Indian name meaning "an island that is easily recognizable from afar." Reported to be in local usage by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1958. The current name "Profit Island" was published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1927 for the triangulation station named Profit located there.
