History
The name "Punta de Santa Theresa" or "Saint Theresa Point" was applied by Francisco Antonio Maurelle to the south point of Noyes Island (Saint Nicholas Point) "* * *probably on that saint's day May 19, 1779" (Wagner, 1937, p. 513). The name was reapplied to its present location in 1923 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS).
