Description

Putnam Peak is located in Missionary Range, 14 mi. NW of Petersburg, on Lindenberg Peninsula, Kupreanof I., Alex. Arch.

History

Named in 1887 by Lieutenant Commander C. M. Thomas, U.S. Navy (USN), for Master Charles Flint Putnam, U.S. Navy (USN), "a member of Lieutenant R. M. Berry's party in the Bering Strait in 1880, who was driven to sea on an ice floe and perished."
