Description
Contact Creek is located flows to John River at Anaktuvuk Pass, Brooks Range. 9 miles long.
History
So named in 1901 by Schrader (1904, p. 63), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), because the stream follows a faultline, being a contact between two different geological formations. The Eskimo name for this stream is "Nachramkunga," meaning "divide creek" (Rausch, 1951, p. 151); so called because it is on the divide between the John and Anaktuvuk Rivers.
