History
Prospectors' name reported in 1899 as "Moss Creek" by D. C. Witherspoon (in Schrader and Brooks, 1900, map 2), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Witherspoon appears to have applied the name to Osborn Creek. "Moss Gulch" was shown on a 1901 map of Cape Nome gold fields by David Fox, Jr.
