Description
Located along Auke Bay, 1.6 km (1 mi) west of Auke Lake and 17 km (10.5 mi) northwest of Juneau, Coast Mountains.
History
Name derived from the bay of the same name. It was settled soon after Glacier Highway reached there in 1918 (Dearmond, 1957, p6). A post office was established in 1946 (Ricks, 1965, p5).
