Description
Netland Island is located at mouth of Berg Bay, Glacier Bay National Monument, 0.3 mi. NW of Lars I. and 39 mi. NW of Hoonah, St. Elias Mts.
History
Named by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1939 for Lars Netland, 1869-1934, a member of the U.S. Section of the International Boundary Commission (IBC) from 1904-10. Netland aided in the reconnaissance survey of Berg Bay in 1907.
