Description
Sebree Island is located in Glacier Bay National Monument, at mouth of Muir Inlet, 0.5 mi. SW of Caroline Point and 52 mi. NW of Hoonah, St. Elias Mts.
History
Named about 1890 for Commander Uriel Sebree, 1848-1922, U.S. Navy (USN). He was on the Arctic Relief Expedition in 1873 and the Greely Relief Expedition in 1884. The feature was called "Headland Island" by Cushing (1891, p. 228).
