History
Named in 1869 by Commander R. W. Meade, U.S. Navy (USN), and published on Hydrographic Chart 225. So named because a mile to the east was a very populous Tlingit Indian village named Letushkwin sometimes called Old Kootznahoo or Khudsnu (U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), 1883, p. 175).
