Point Augusta is located on NE coast of Chicagof I., on Chatham Strait, 4 mi. N of False Bay and 26 mi. SW of Juneau, Alex. Arch.
History
Discovered by Joseph Whidbey July 24 1794, and named by Captain Vancouver (1798,v.3,p.259), Royal Navy (RN), for Augusta Sophia, daughter of George iii of England (Wagner, 1937,p.374).
