Description
Maynard Hill is located on west-central Saint George I., in Pribilof Islands.
History
This feature was named in 1891 by Joseph Stanley-Brown, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), probably for Lieutenant Washburn Maynard, U.S. Navy (USN), who accompanied H. W. Elliott in 1874. According to Putnam (1903, p. 1014), U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), "Eganuta-koverushka" is the Aleut-Russian name meaning "hill near Eganuta."
