History
Translation of the Russian word "volchie" by W. H. Dall, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), in 1882; Captain F. P. Lutke, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN) appied the name "Volchie" to the entire island in 1836.
