Description
Cape Rozhnof is located between Nelson Lagoon and Herendeen Bay, 11 mi. W of village of Port Moller, Alaska Peninsula, Bristol Bay Low.
History
Named Cape Rojnoff by Captain Lutke (1836, p. 261), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). The name was applied at first to what is now called Lagoon Point. Cape Rodgnoff is shown in its present location on an 1882 U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) chart; the spelling "Rozhnof" is derived from "Rozhnova," shown on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1279 (1847).
