Description
Located east of the south end of Green Ridge, and 22.5 km (14 mi) north-northeast of the community of Sisters; in Deschutes National Forest.
History
"Akawa" is of Wasco origin and reportedly is the feminine form of the word "badger". Badgers are common to the area and an important animal to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.
