Description
Located between Akawa Butte on the northeast and Black Butte on the southwest, 17.7 km (11 mi) north-northeast of the community of Sisters; in Deschutes National Forest.
History
"Akawa" is of Wasco origin and reportedly is the feminine form of the word "badger". Badgers are common to the area and an important animal to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.
