Located in western North Carolina along the boundary with South Carolina, 40 km (2.5 mi) south of Asheville; County Seat: Hendersonville.
History
Formed in 1838 from Buncombe County; named in honor of Leonard Henderson (1773-1833), Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. (NC-T11/p221)
