History
named for Seth Green (1817-1888), who lived on the island. In the mid-1800's he developed modern methods of fish culture and propagation and was instrumental in the introduction of salmon and brown trout to Lake Ontario and the Genesee River. In 1869 he was appointed the first Superintendent of Fish Culture in New York. (US-T121)
