History

Named for Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, who traversed the ridge in September 1805. Two proposals to name this ridge were submitted and considered by the United States Board on Geographic Names (U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN)). The USBGN rejected the name Naptnisa in favor of Lewis and Clark Ridge.
