History
The BGN approved the name Thompson River for Federal use in 1922. The 71st General Assembly of the State of Iowa enacted and approved (March 5, 1985) a change to the name of the portion of the river in Iowa to Grand River. As such, the latter name is official for State use; however, this action is not binding to the Federal Government.
