Description
Lies in a NE-SW direction, outlets via a small inlet to the W into Butterball Creek, 2.1 km (1.3 mi) from the St. Louis River and 21.7 km (13.5 mi) ESE of Hoyt Lake, the SW end is 6.4 km (4 mi) SE of Skibo Mill.
History
"butterball" is a nickname for the Bufflehead Duck which migrates through and nests in this area.
