Description
On SW point of Boot Island, one of the Les Cheneaux Islands on Lake Huron off the southern shore of the Upper Peninsula.
History
Named for Chippewa Chief Shab-wa-way (1770-1872), a lifelong resident of the area and signatory to the 1836 Treaty of Washington which ceded the territory to the United States.
