On right bank of The Gulf at its entrance to Cohasset Cove 0.8 mi E of Cohasset; Town of Cohasset.
History
So named in the early 19th century because the US Government owned the land until it was bought by the Town of Cohasset in 1946. According to town history, Minots Lighthouse was first built on this land in 1857 but later moved to Minots Ledge (Board on Geographic Names (BGN) files).
