History
The variant name Arnold C. Gay Anchorage was approved by the Annapolis City Council in 1994, but was not endorsed for Federal use by a decision of the BGN in January 2012, citing a lack of local usage in the subsequent 17 years. The name was intended to honor Arnold Gay (1919-1994), longtime area boat yard owner, yachtsman, and an active member of the Annapolis community.
