Bound on the north by Gordon Creek, on the west by South Fork Smith River,on the south and east by Canthook Creek, 5.6 km (3.5 mi) northeast of Little Ratlesnake Mountain and 22.5 km (14 mi) east of Crescent City. (US-T121)

At its August 12, 1982 meeting the Board on Geographic Names approved Cant Hook Mountain. At its October 15, 1982 meeting the Board recinded its August 12 decision and changed the name back to Canthook Mountain. (US-T121)
