Located in the Verde River between Beaver Creek Ranger District (Coconino NF) and Verde Ranger District (Prescott NF); approximately 1.3 km (0.8 mi) N of an unnamed ford at Gap Creek.

Name reflects that the rock may be difficult to avoid while navigating Turkey Gobbler Rapid (q.v.).
