Description
Mammoth Creek is located flows NE joins Porcupine Creek to form Crooked Creek, 37 mi. SW of Circle, Yukon-Tanana High.
History
Named by prospectors; reported in 1896 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) (Spurr, 1898, pl. 1). So named because fossil remains of mammoths, mastodons and several other prehistoric animals have been found near the stream.
