Description

Mount Hayes is located at head of Hayes Glacier, 43 mi. SW of Delta Junction, Alaska Range

History

Named in 1898 by W. J. Peters and A. H. Brooks, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for Charles Willard Hayes, 1858-1916, geologist with U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from 1887 to 1911. The first ascent of this mountain was made on August 1, 1941 (Farquhar, 1959, p. 222).
