Description
On the Tanana River, 9.3 km (5.8 mi) NW of Big Delta and 7.6 km (4.7 mi) ESE of Quartz Lake, Tanana Low.
History
Named in 1885 by Lieutenant H. T. Allen (1887, 9. 84), USA, for a "Mr. Bates," an Englishman who reportedly descended the Tanana River.
