Mount Kinkaid is located on W coast of Baranof I., 6.5 mi. S of Sitka; Alex. Arch.

History

named in 1897 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) probably for C. A. Kinkaid, a member of the first council elected at Sitka after the transfer of Alaska to the United States. Chetyrekh Ugolnoy Piramidoy," meaning "mountain of four cornered pyramid," was applied to this feature in 1809 by Ivan Vasiliev the first, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), and published by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
