This is a translation by US@C&GS of the name given in 1809 by the navigator Ivan Vasiliev the first, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), published it as "Z(aliv) Peschanyy."
