History
named in 1880 by U.S. Navy "for Mr. Luce, U.S. Navy (USN), one of the men on the U.S.S. Jamestown at Sitka that year." published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 144).
