Golovni Island is located in Necker Is., W of Baranof I., 20 mi. SW of Sitka; Alex. Arch.
History
originally named "Ostrov Golomyannoy," meaning "sea breeze island," by Ivan Vasiliev the first, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). was applied to this island in 1880 and published on British Admiralty (Brit. Adm.) Chart 2337. "golovnya," meaning "firebrand."
