Description
Ataku Island is located in Necker Is., on W coast of Baranof I., 17 mi. SW of Sitka; Alex. Arch. 0.4 mile wide.
History
Tlingit Indian name reported in 1809 by Ivan Vasiliev the first, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN); published by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "O(strov) Ataku," or "Ataku Island."
