History
named in 1809 by the Russian navigator Ivan Vasiliev the first; published by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "O(strov) Nevskoy," or "Nevskoy Island." for the Russian warship Neva which was at Sitka in 1804. is also a Russian family name.
