History
Russian name given in 1833 by the navigator Ensign Vasiliev (complete name not available) Imperial Russian Navy (IRN); published in 1848 on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1397 as "Pr(oliv) Olgi." meaning "cross strait," in 1809 by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
